Courses of formation[...] The training courses of the Suzuki Italian Institute (ISI) follow the European programmes established around 120 hours of lessons at each level. There are five levels and teachers qualify after passing the third level examination. The last two levels are specialisations. The total length of the course must not be less than three years, and it is possible to award the qualification for teaching an instrument and the special qualification for the basic rhythm at the same time. As well as studying the repertoire of the specific instrument, students study associated subjects such as philosophy, child psychology and school organisation. Candidates are asked to prepare a report to be presented to the examining committee, made up of professors from two different foreign countries. Candidates must attend 120 hours of lesson at every level and be prepared to have direct experience with children taking part in the summer courses organised by the various schools. The 120 hours are structured in six weekends, plus a week at the end of August with a final exam consisting of three tests: execution by memory of the repertoire of each level, a lesson with a child who the candidate has followed during the year; a written oral interview and discussion of the written papers. The Isi follows the creation of the new Suzuki schools: the ideal school model is what a teacher foresees of rhythmic and two of instrument, even if, obviously, an only teacher can, give origin at a new school.
