The Guitar OrchestraThe chamber music group "The Little Suzuki Musicians" of Saluzzo, part of the Suzuki Institute Italian Circle of Saluzzo, is made up of twenty-five child guitarists, violinists and cellists of between the ages of four and thirteen. It draws its inspiration from Shiniki Suzuki's method, that states that children are the products of their environment and therefore the talents they develop are not innate but are the fruit of their education, particularly in their early childhood. The spread of the method throughout the world and the recognition that it has received, including his speech at the United Nations headquarters in New York, have made Shiniki Suzuki one of the personalities of the last century who has made the greatest contribution to the development of a culture of dialogue, tolerance and peace. In the last 14 years The Little Suzuki Musicians have held more then 150 concerts in Italy and abroad and have appeared on television programmes (including "Lo Zecchino d'Oro ") and at international meetings for children’s music groups (France, Scotland, Eire). In 1996 The Little Suzuki Musicians recorded the Compact Disc "When the kids help each other". On May 31 1998 during a concert in Sarajevo the profits from the sale of the CD were handed over as a contribution to the reconstruction of the Bosnian capital’s "Children’s Library". The next day they played at Mostar as guests of the "Centar
Pavarotti International". |
